Ilia Topuria’s first-round knockout victory over Charles Oliveira at UFC 317 earned him the championship, due to Islam Makhachev deciding to move up to welterweight in search of that title. Makhachev is expected to have the opportunity to fight for the title against the new 170-pound champion, Jack Della Maddalena, although the fight has not yet been announced.\n\nTherefore, for classification purposes, Makhachev remains in the lightweight top 10, as does Topuria, who vacated the featherweight belt to move up a division, remained in the 145-pound ranking until his recent fight at 155 pounds.\n\nThis has caused a logjam at the top of the lightweight rankings. The situation will be resolved once the fight between Della Maddalena and Makhachev at 170 pounds takes place, but for now, the top of the 155-pound rankings houses possibly the two best MMA fighters.\n\nThe most notable rise in the rankings is in the men’s flyweight division, where Joshua Van goes from unranked to number 2, with a title opportunity secured, thanks to his victory at UFC 317 over former number 2 champion Brandon Royval.\n\nHere are the pound-for-pound MMA rankings and a list of the current UFC champions in all weight classes.\n\nThe results are current; the rankings are from July 1st. To be eligible for the ranking, a fighter must have competed in the last 12 months or have a scheduled upcoming fight. Fighters who have been retired due to inactivity can only be reinstated after competing.\n\n\n
