The reason is the persistent obstruction by local groups to the access of a recycling and solid waste management plant that is planned to be built in the area.<\/p>\n\n
This order comes after a recent ruling by the Superior Administrative Court (TSA), which dismissed an injunction filed by local organizations. The plaintiffs sought to halt the permits granted by the Ministry of Environment, alleging potential environmental damage and a lack of technical studies; however, the court determined that the environmental license was issued under the corresponding legal parameters.<\/p>\n\n
The situation has taken a dangerous turn, according to the leaders. Alex Reyes warned about recent incidents, including the burning of tires near a fuel station on Tuesday night, an event that could have triggered a major tragedy in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n
We are calling on the Government to intervene before a tragedy occurs. It is one thing to protest for a community and quite another to carry out actions that could endanger the lives of hundreds of families.<\/p>\nAlex Reyes, community leader<\/cite>\n\n\n For his part, Yeison Melo emphasized the need for authorities to restore public order and prevent the conflict from being instrumentalized by political interests unrelated to the well-being of the residents of Pedro Brand.<\/p>\n\n Both Reyes and Melo agreed that, while the community has the right to express its concerns, institutional channels must prevail over de facto actions that put the safety of workers and residents of the area at risk.
