The Washington Nationals activated infielder Paul DeJong from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. To make room on the roster, they sent infielder Andr\u00e9s Chaparro to Triple-A Rochester.<\/p>\n
DeJong suffered a broken nose, orbital bone, and orbital floor after being hit in the face by a 92.7 mph pitch from Pittsburgh’s Mitch Keller on April 15. The 31-year-old underwent surgery six days later.<\/p>\n
During his rehabilitation in Double-A Harrisburg, DeJong had a performance of 11 hits in 40 at-bats, which translates to a batting average of .275. In addition, he hit a double, a home run, drove in six runs, and scored four runs in 12 games.<\/p>\n
Before his injury, DeJong, who was signed as a free agent in the offseason, batted .204 with four doubles, two RBIs, two stolen bases, and three runs scored in 16 games for Washington.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Chaparro, 26 years old, had a batting average of .091 in four games with the Nationals this season.<\/p>\n
