Free agent point guard Tyus Jones has reached an agreement with the Orlando Magic for a one-year, $7 million contract, according to sources close to the negotiation.<\/p>\n
The Magic’s executives closed the deal with Kevin Bradbury, Jones’ agent from LIFT Sports Management. This agreement gives Jones a key role on the team, which seeks to establish itself as a contender in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n
Jones will join Desmond Bane in a revamped Magic backcourt, which will also feature guard Jalen Suggs, in his fourth year in the league.<\/p>\n
Jones, 29, arrives after a one-year contract with the Suns, following a standout season as a starter for the Wizards. After playing 58 games as a starter in Phoenix, he transitioned to a bench role as the Suns’ season became complicated.<\/p>\n
The Magic urgently needed a point guard in the point guard position, and Jones is one of the best in the league. He possesses one of the highest assist-to-turnover ratios of all time; in the Wizards during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 7.3 assists per game with only one turnover.<\/p>\n
