The Dominican Confederation of Micro, Small and Medium Construction Enterprises (Copymecon) has expressed its support for the recent appointment of Jean Luis Rodríguez to head the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED). Eliseo Cristopher, president of the entity, positively assessed the new minister’s profile, highlighting his youth and the positive results obtained during his career in other public roles.

We see these changes as positive, possibly because they are appointing a young person with a political background who has had great success in the roles they have held in other State functions.
Eliseo Cristopher, president of Copymecon

The challenge of inclusion in the construction sector

Despite welcoming the new official, Copymecon issued a warning regarding the current dynamics of the sector. Although construction is showing signs of recovery after the challenges faced, Cristopher pointed out that this growth is not yet reflected in greater participation for smaller-scale companies.

- The construction sector has overcome complex stages, but small businesses are still waiting for concrete opportunities.

- The confederation emphasized that the sector’s economic growth must be inclusive.

- Copymecon made its work team available to collaborate with the new minister in the development of projects that integrate the entire business fabric.
