On another note, Deputy Minister P\u00e9rez reported on the leptospirosis situation, noting 19 deaths so far this year. The official emphasized that the disease is linked to the contamination of surfaces and food by rodents, and therefore urged the population to take extreme hygiene measures. Fortunately, a downward trend in infections has been observed following the outbreak recorded months ago in Puerto Plata.<\/p>\n\n
