This position remains firm despite recent adjustments made by United States health authorities, who reported a reduction in the number of vaccines within their federal schedule, going from 18 to 11 recommended doses.<\/p>\n\n<p>Atallah clarified that, although the Ministry constantly analyzes international information, the local system is governed by the country&#8217;s own epidemiological needs and realities.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Here we are maintaining the vaccination schedules that we have. All information is important to receive, analyze, and take into account, but this issue does not affect us.<\/p><cite>V\u00edctor Atallah, Minister of Public Health.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strength of the Dominican healthcare system<\/h3>\n\n<p>For his part, the Vice Minister of Collective Health, Eladio P\u00e9rez, called on the citizenry to maintain confidence in the national immunization program, highlighting the progress made over the last six years. According to P\u00e9rez, the strengthening of the vaccination network has allowed for the control of diseases that still represent challenges in other nations.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Effective prevention against Human Papillomavirus (HPV).<\/li><li>Sustained control of measles.<\/li><li>Implementation of more potent vaccines for the population.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leptospirosis control and maternal health<\/h3>\n\n<p>On another note, Deputy Minister P\u00e9rez reported on the leptospirosis situation, noting 19 deaths so far this year. The official emphasized that the disease is linked to the contamination of surfaces and food by rodents, and therefore urged the population to take extreme hygiene measures. Fortunately, a downward trend in infections has been observed following the outbreak recorded months ago in Puerto Plata.<\/p>\n\n<p>Finally, during a workshop focused on prenatal care, Minister Atallah underscored the Ministry&#8217;s commitment to reducing maternal mortality.
