Major General Jimmy Arias Grull\u00f3n has established himself as one of the most prominent figures within the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic. With a solid career path that spans from tactical and academic training to high-level leadership in state security, Arias Grull\u00f3n recently assumed the leadership of one of the most important military institutions in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since August 16, 2026, by order of President Luis Abinader through Decree no. 557-26, the high-ranking officer has held the position of Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Army, succeeding Major General Jorge Iv\u00e1n Camino P\u00e9rez in his duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A native of Santo Domingo, Major General Arias Grull\u00f3n began his path in the military on January 11, 1996, upon entering the Batalla de las Carreras Military Academy. His academic training was consolidated in December 1999 when he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Military Sciences, a foundation upon which he built vast specialization in critical areas such as intelligence, infantry, border operations, and dignitary protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presidential security experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Before his current appointment, Arias Grull\u00f3n was a key figure in President Luis Abinader’s security detail. His relationship with the Presidential Security Corps (CUSEP) dates back to the early 2000s, but it was from 2020 onwards that he took on roles of greater relevance. In August of that year, he was appointed deputy chief of the agency, and in 2022, the president entrusted him with the leadership of CUSEP, a position he held successfully until his promotion to command the Army in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
