Star Dominican first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been placed on the seven-day injured list due to a concussion. This measure was taken by the Toronto Blue Jays organization following the hard hit the player received last Friday during the matchup against the New York Yankees.

The incident occurred in the bottom of the sixth inning of the game, which ended in a 3-1 victory for the Blue Jays. The play turned dangerous when George Lombard Jr., the Yankees’ shortstop, lost track of a pitch and, while turning sharply to try to locate the ball, accidentally struck Guerrero’s face with his left knee.

After the game, manager John Schneider reported that the slugger was experiencing discomfort and a headache, so he was immediately subjected to the standard medical protocol to evaluate the severity of the concussion.
Alofoke Deportes

Alternatives in Toronto following the loss of their star

Guerrero’s absence represents a significant challenge for Toronto’s offense, forcing the coaching staff to reorganize their infield. Given this situation, the team is evaluating various strategic options to cover first base while the Dominican player completes his recovery process:

- Charles McAdoo: The young rookie is emerging as one of the most solid alternatives to take over the starting role at first base.

- Kazuma Okamoto: The Japanese third baseman also figures as a real possibility to move from third base to the first bag.

The Blue Jays’ management remains expectant regarding the health progress of Guerrero, a cornerstone of the team, to determine the precise moment he will be able to rejoin the lineup and resume his usual rhythm in the season.
