Following the strong 7.4 magnitude earthquake that shook Colombia last Monday, President Abelardo de la Espriella has officially presented the first national reconstruction plan. With the goal of accelerating the recovery of the territory, the president has made an urgent call to the private sector to join efforts in the rehabilitation of infrastructure and support for the affected communities.<\/p>\n\n

Impact and material damage after the earthquake<\/h3>\n\n
The toll following the seismic movement is critical, with a regrettable balance of 35 people deceased and 188 citizens who remain reported as missing, with a large part of the tragedy concentrated in the city of Cali. The magnitude of the disaster is reflected in the collapsed infrastructure nationwide:<\/p>\n\n\n
- 127 buildings collapsed.<\/li>
- 65,841 homes with structural damage.<\/li>
- 10,677 homes totally destroyed.<\/li>
- 236 health centers and 2,136 educational centers affected.<\/li>
- 1,168 community centers and 198 roads severely damaged.<\/li>
- 34 vehicular bridges, 12 pedestrian bridges, and 71 aqueducts with damage.<\/li>
- 5 airports with damage to their facilities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n
