The Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED) has launched an ambitious investment project in large-scale energy storage systems, known as BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems). This initiative seeks to strengthen the stability of the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI) through cutting-edge technological solutions.<\/p>\n\n
During his participation in the 2026 Government Forums, the executive vice president of ETED, Alfonso Rodr\u00edguez Tejada, highlighted that the implementation of this technology will allow for key optimizations, such as frequency regulation and black start capability. This latter function is vital, as it grants the system the ability to restart its operations from scratch following a general service interruption.<\/p>\n\n
Rodr\u00edguez Tejada explained that the growth in demand and the integration of new renewable sources into the National Energy Plan require the country to have its own backup mechanisms. In critical situations, such as the passage of atmospheric phenomena, the ETED seeks to guarantee the security of the system through more autonomous and resilient management.<\/p>\n\n
