Currently, a total of 2,614 documents are available for collection at the institution&#8217;s headquarters, located in La Uruca.<\/p>\n\n<p>Holders of these cards will have an extended period to collect their documents, which will be held in the custody of the authorities until August 2026. To facilitate the process, the entity has enabled three daily time slots: 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 2:00 pm. It is essential to remember that an appointment is not necessary to carry out this collection, but it is essential to present the receipt provided during the photograph session.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guidelines for document withdrawal<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If more than two months have passed since your data was collected and the document was not picked up at the Correos de Costa Rica branch, the user must verify their name on the official list available on the DGME website before going to the central office.<\/li>\n<li>In case the waiting period is less than two months, the pickup must be managed directly at the postal branch where the process was originally initiated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advances in management and simplification of procedures<\/h2>\n\n<p>The institution reported that it has managed to overcome a significant backlog that exceeded 26,000 pending documents. This progress is the result of the requirement simplification plan implemented in February 2026, which streamlines the verification of migratory movements and the review of security systems without compromising the rigor of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The processes of documenting yourself for the first time, renewing, or obtaining a duplicate of your DIMEX involve the assessment of requirements, including security systems and migratory movements, among others; therefore, reporting that we are now up to date with deliveries is a reflection of our institutional commitment and the fulfillment of our responsibility.<\/p><cite>General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inquiries and follow-up<\/h2>\n\n<p>Despite the improvement in delivery times, some users have reported mixed experiences regarding the speed of the process. For any questions regarding the status of their application, the DGME invites interested parties to use their online services.
