According to data recently presented by the consulting firm Opción, disapproval of the government’s management reached 57% during the third quarter of the year, marking a notable increase in citizen discontent.

In contrast, support for the Executive stood at 19%. When breaking down the respondents’ opinions on the government’s performance, 30% rated the management as very bad, while 27% considered it bad. On the other hand, 24% maintained a neutral stance, rating it as neither good nor bad, compared to 16% who valued it as good and barely 3% who rated it as very good.

A constant deterioration in public perception

The report highlights a sustained trend of deterioration in the government’s image. Compared to the previous quarter, where disapproval stood at 48%, the jump to 57% reflects a deepening of social unrest. According to the consultancy, this phenomenon has occurred mainly at the expense of a reduction in neutral judgments, which has led the government to record an evaluative balance of -38, worsening the figure of -28 that was reported previously.

The historical series of management evaluation for the current government cycle shows, quarter after quarter, an increase in disapproval and, in most measurements, a drop in approval, with the former phenomenon being more significant than the latter.
Consultora Opción

Historical comparison since the beginning of the management

When analyzing the numbers since the beginning of the term, the differences are considerable. In the end-to-end comparison, current disapproval exceeds that recorded in the first months of the government cycle (second quarter of 2025) by 38 percentage points, while approval has experienced a decline of 11 points.

The study, which included a sample of 806 people surveyed by telephone between July and August, maintains a maximum margin of error of ±3.5% and a confidence level of 95%. These indicators place the Uruguayan government in a highly demanding scenario, where public opinion is becoming increasingly critical of the policies implemented by the current administration.

Approval of Yamandú Orsi’s government falls in Uruguay according to recent poll The political landscape in Uruguay is going through a stage of significant challenges for the Yamandú Orsi administration.
