Amy, his wife, reported that Askren&#8217;s other organs are in good condition.\n\nThe condition of the former MMA champion and outstanding amateur wrestler has improved so much that he even requested coffee on Monday.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n\n<p>&#8220;Yesterday, he was whispering something for a while and we finally discovered he was saying &#8216;\u00a1caf\u00e9!&#8217; (He still can&#8217;t have it, hahaha). What a relief to see him ask for something so normal. I am so grateful that his mind is healthy and I can&#8217;t wait to have him back,&#8221; Amy wrote on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n<cite>Amy Askren<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nAccording to Amy, Askren was officially placed on the transplant list. She requested prayers for him to remain strong and stable without complications while waiting to find a suitable match.\n\nAskren has been hospitalized for the entire month due to severe pneumonia. As of June 17, he was connected to a ventilator.\n\nAskren developed his entire professional career in Hartland, Wisconsin, and runs a wrestling academy in the area. He retired from MMA in 2019. In addition, he was a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion and a member of the 2008 United States Olympic team.
