Music and the ninth art have converged in an innovative proposal titled Supermambo, a project that transcends the traditional format to become a comprehensive experience: it is read, listened to, and danced to. This initiative was led by prominent figures in the industry: Latin Grammy-winning vibraphonist and producer Felipe Fournier; Grammy-winning singer and producer Jeremy Bosch; and Emmy-winning artist Edgardo Miranda-Rodr\u00edguez, creator of La Borinque\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n
The work presents an Afro-Latino superhero from the South Bronx, whose main power is music. According to its creators, the idea began to take shape eight years ago, motivated by the need to represent Latino identity in a genre dominated by conventional narratives. The goal was to transform the essence of salsa, a genre that has historically narrated the lives of everyday heroes, into a tangible character.<\/p>\n\n
The protagonist, Ernesto P\u00e9rez, known as Supermambo, does not use violence as his primary weapon. His narrative focuses on the power of music to unite the community, reflecting themes of resistance, joy, and neighborhood culture. The creators explain that the world of salsa already contained the necessary elements for this mythology; it just needed a face and a visual structure.<\/p>\n\n

Beyond his musical status, Blades is a fervent fan of comics, a medium he recognizes as one of his earliest influences in the art of storytelling and the synthesis of emotions.<\/p>\n\n
The project finds direct inspiration in Blades’ masterpiece Maestra Vida, adopting the structure of a story that unfolds continuously between songs and dialogues. For the creators, having the voice of a legend like Rub\u00e9n Blades not only validates the project, but also represents the natural union between two worlds that have defined their trajectory: the literary complexity of comics and the lyrical depth of salsa.<\/p>\n\n\n
