Shohei Ohtani Impresses with Maximum Velocity in His Return to the Mound<\/h2>\n\nIn an exciting encounter against the Kansas City Royals, Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers star, demonstrated his power by throwing the fastest fastball of his career in the Major Leagues, reaching 101.7 mph. \u201cI don\u2019t think you can take the competitive spirit out of the player,\u201d Roberts added. \u201cThere\u2019s a little bit of stress and that\u2019s when you start to see 100s and try to intimidate guys. Nobody knows himself better than he does and I thought he was in control. It\u2019s still good to see the three digits\u201d.<\/p>\n\nDave Roberts, Dodgers Manager<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nAlthough Ohtani has hit 29 home runs this season as the Los Angeles’ primary designated hitter, he will not participate in the Home Run Derby during the All-Star break.\n\n\n
