Although Marte managed to hit a fly ball to close the inning, his face reflected pain and disbelief.\n\n

Today Ketel Marte cried after a “fan” yelled something at him about his mom, who passed away in an accident in 2017.<\/a><\/p>\n\nThe situation caused Arizona manager Torey Lovullo and Dominican Geraldo Perdomo to come out and console Marte during a break in the game.\n\nIt was a terrible moment. Some fans cross the line. I want to and will protect my players\n\nLovullo reported that he clearly heard the insult and that, along with coach Jeff Banister, they reported the incident to the stadium security personnel, who immediately ejected the fan.\n\n
