When they posted the fight poster on Instagram, it became a bit real and, obviously, when we booked our flights.\n\n&#8220;It was then when it really became like, yeah, this is happening.&#8221;\n\nSeveral promoters approached the highly-touted Maca, but it was Matchroom&#8217;s ability to bring him to the Big Apple for his debut that sealed the deal.\n\nTo say it&#8217;s been a whirlwind week is an understatement.\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cAround the stadium, there are not only boxing things, but of all sports, and there are [the] quotes of what people say about the stadium: \u2018The most famous in the world, the best stadium in the world\u2019.<\/p><cite>Adam Maca<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n&#8220;So boxing there in my debut is huge,&#8221; said Maca.\n\nAfter winning several national titles, Maca, born in Brighton with Albanian and Yemeni heritage, had no doubt that he wanted to become a professional as soon as possible.\n\n\u201cEver since I was younger, I wanted to be a professional boxer and then, as I was approaching 18, I kept thinking, I can\u2019t wait to turn pro, I can\u2019t wait to turn 18 so I can turn pro,\u201d he said.\n\n&#8220;So I never had in mind to do anything else.&#8221;","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Maca, 18 years old, will make his professional debut at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
