After connecting a double that drove in two runs in the eighth inning, he slid into home plate, losing both shoes in the process. “I was so sweaty. My socks were wet. Everything just slid right off,” commented the player.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. perdiendo sus zapatos en el juego.

The Yankees captain, Aaron Judge, expressed his amazement at the incident: “I saw many firsts. A game at 11:30 and a guy losing both shoes. I’ve seen a shoe come off, but not both like that. That was incredible.”

Chisholm has performed well since his return from injury, with a batting average of .350 and 11 RBIs in his last games, raising his average to .242. “That’s what I like. I grew up playing baseball like that in high school, in minor leagues. I don’t feel the need to change,” he stated.

The game took an unexpected turn when, with the score 2-0 in favor of Baltimore, Chisholm hit a double that brought him home thanks to a single by DJ LeMahieu. In his attempt to avoid a collision, Chisholm lost his left shoe and then his right one when he fell.

I asked rookie Jasson Domínguez to tie my shoelaces after putting on new socks and my sneakers.

Jazz Chisholm Jr.

After the incident, Chisholm changed his socks and asked Jasson Domínguez to tie his shoelaces. “They say he’s the best shoelace tier,” Chisholm recalled. “I didn’t understand until he did it. It took me like a minute to take my shoes off.”

In the eighth inning, with Baltimore leading 2-1, Ben Rice singled and Giancarlo Stanton followed with another single, putting runners on the corners. Paul Goldschmidt came in as a pinch runner and Chisholm hit a 384-foot hit that tied the game. Goldschmidt scored, and Chisholm took third base.

Aaron Judge, capitán de los Yankees.

Stanton told Chisholm: “Go out and play like that.
