With this victory, the European golfer becomes the first back-to-back champion of the tournament since Tiger Woods (2001-2002).

A Closing Full of Emotion

McIlroy’s victory was not easy. After dominating in the first rounds, he saw his lead reduced and had to fight until the last hole to secure the title.

During the final round, both Cameron Young and Justin Rose temporarily led, but they failed to maintain the pace in the final holes.

The Northern Irishman signed a card of 71 strokes (-1), with five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey that put his lead at risk. However, his serenity in crucial moments allowed him to maintain the advantage.

Scheffler: A Formidable Rival

Scottie Scheffler delivered an outstanding performance, especially during the weekend, completing his rounds without bogeys, something not seen in the tournament since 1942. Despite his consistency, he fell short of the title.

Key Moments at Augusta

On the 18th hole, McIlroy faced a challenge after a complicated tee shot. He managed to recover successfully from the bunker and, although he finished with a bogey, it was enough to secure the victory.

With this result, McIlroy joins figures like Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods as the only ones to win the Masters in consecutive years. In addition, he adds the sixth ‘major’ of his career, solidifying himself among the greats of golf.

Rahm closes with a good performance

The Spaniard Jon Rahm concluded his participation with a final round of 68 strokes (-4), the best of his week, finishing with +1 overall. However, his start in the tournament prevented him from competing for the title.

One trains to compete to win, not to finish without options
Jon Rahm

The 2026 Masters offered an exciting finish, with McIlroy reaffirming his dominance and consolidating an era of high competition in world golf.

Rory McIlroy conquers the Augusta Masters for the second consecutive year Augusta, USA – Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy once again demonstrated his mastery at the Augusta Masters, securing the championship for the second consecutive year after an intense final day.
