Steve Kerr, coach of the Golden State Warriors, has promoted his son Nicholas to the team’s coaching staff, as announced on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Nicholas Kerr, 32, served as the head coach of the Warriors in the G League, in Santa Cruz, California, for the last two seasons. During his leadership, Santa Cruz had a 20-14 record and finished in fourth place in the G League Western Conference in both seasons.<\/p>\n
Born in Cleveland and raised in San Diego, Nicholas Kerr played college basketball at San Diego and Cal. He was a graduate assistant at Cal in the 2016-17 season before moving to the San Antonio Spurs as an intern.<\/p>\n
The young Kerr worked in the player development department for the Warriors and was a video coordinator for three seasons. In 2021, the Warriors hired him as an assistant coach for the G League in Santa Cruz, before becoming head coach in 2023.<\/p>\n
Steve Kerr, 59 years old, has been the head coach of Golden State for 11 seasons, starting in 2014-15. The Warriors have won four NBA titles during his tenure and have advanced to the NBA Finals six times.
