The deal is worth $64 million.

Schmaltz’s contract will have an impact of $8 million annually on the salary cap until the 2033-34 NHL season.

I never doubted that Utah is where I want to play for the rest of my career, and I am excited to sign an eight-year extension. We have a great core of players, and I know we can do special things together here in Utah. We have a very bright future, and I am grateful to Ryan and Ashley Smith for wanting me to be part of the group that will one day bring the Stanley Cup to Utah.
Nick Schmaltz

Schmaltz, 30, is the team’s second-leading scorer with 59 points in 64 games. His excellent start to the season, with 16 points in 10 games, helped Utah head towards the playoffs in the franchise’s second season since moving to Salt Lake City and the first as the Mammoth.

Nick is a tremendous player and person, who is very deserving of this contract.
