He acknowledged that they are not as fast as Mercedes, but they are in the fight. &#8220;We have a lot of work to do to catch them, but it&#8217;s not impossible,&#8221; he stated.\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a4.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2026%2F0309%2Fr1625571_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption>Lewis Hamilton respald\u00f3 a Ferrari para &#8220;permanecer en la pelea&#8221; con Mercedes a pesar de su dominio en la semana de apertura.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\nFerrari seemed to miss a strategic opportunity by not pitting during a virtual safety car period, unlike Russell and Kimi Antonelli, who did.\n\nThe strategy has long been seen as Ferrari&#8217;s Achilles&#8217; heel, and Hamilton pointed out the need to review whether a different decision could have been made.\n\nHamilton expressed feeling good and satisfied with the third and fourth places obtained, although he acknowledged that Mercedes was faster. He considered that it was necessary to analyze whether a pit stop would have been more beneficial and suggested that they should have covered Mercedes with at least one of their cars.\n\nHamilton was one of the few drivers to support the new rules after the first race.\n\nThe F1&#8217;s shift towards a 50-50 split between internal combustion and electrification has placed a great emphasis on battery management and energy saving, something that is already unpopular among the drivers.\n\nHamilton, known for his aversion to ground effect cars that F1 had between 2022 and 2025, praised the new rules on Sunday night.\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Personally, I loved it.
