Right-handed pitcher Zack Littell has agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals, according to sources close to the negotiation. The deal includes a mutual option for the 2027 season.<\/p>\n
Littell, 30 years old, arrives at the Nationals after playing for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cincinnati Reds last season. In 2025, the pitcher had a record of 10-8 with an ERA of 3.81.<\/p>\n
The pitcher set personal records with 32 starts and 186\u2154 innings pitched in 2025. In addition, he achieved his first complete game in the Rays’ 16-3 victory against Houston on May 31.<\/p>\n
The Washington Nationals are in a rebuilding process under the direction of Paul Toboni, who was hired as president of baseball operations after the team finished with a 66-96 record the previous year. The organization has not had a winning season since winning the World Series in 2019.<\/p>\n
Littell joins a rotation that also includes Cade Cavalli and Miles Mikolas, who signed a one-year contract for $2.25 million last month. MacKenzie Gore was traded to the Texas Rangers in January in exchange for five prospects.<\/p>\n
Littell, selected in the eleventh round of the 2013 draft, debuted in the Major Leagues with the Minnesota Twins in 2018. Throughout his career, he has accumulated a record of 34-29 with an ERA of 3.88 in 155 relief appearances and 79 starts.
