OKLAHOMA CITY \u2013 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, star of the Oklahoma City Thunder and current NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), will not be present at the 2026 All-Star Game due to an abdominal injury, the franchise announced this Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The guard will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, scheduled for next week, as he continues his recovery process.<\/p>\n
Gilgeous-Alexander did not play in the final quarter of Oklahoma City’s victory against the Orlando Magic (128-92). In that game, his participation was uncertain due to a sprained finger, according to the official injury report.<\/p>\n
The abdominal injury will prevent him from participating in the All-Star game, which will be held on February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the new home of the Los Angeles Clippers.<\/p>\n
This was going to be the fourth All-Star Game appearance for the Canadian player, and he had been selected as a starter, thanks to the joint vote of the public, the media, and the league players.<\/p>\n
Gilgeous-Alexander was set to represent Team World in an All-Star game that this year will feature an innovative format, with a round robin mini-tournament between three teams: two from the United States and one international.
