Santo Domingo \u2013 Dominican athletics celebrates the return of Luguelin Santos to the international scene. The sprinter, after serving a three-year suspension, demonstrated his ability by obtaining second place in the 400 meters indoors during the Meeting de L\u2019Eure, held in France.<\/p>\n
The event marked Santos’ official return to competition this 2026. The athlete from Bayaguana competed on February 1st in the European event, recording a time of 48.27 seconds in the final of the 400 meters indoor.<\/p>\n
The test was led by his compatriot Lidio Andr\u00e9s F\u00e9lix, who crossed the finish line in 47.82 seconds. Frenchman Jacques Ehrmann completed the podium.<\/p>\n
Santos, Olympic runner-up in London 2012, was out of the tracks since 2023. This, after being sanctioned by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), after admitting the use of a passport with an incorrect date of birth. The objective was to compete in the 2012 World Junior Athletics Championships.<\/p>\n
The sprinter was stripped of the junior world title and received a three-year suspension.<\/p>\n
Following the decision, the athlete offered a public apology for what happened.<\/p>\n
In other outstanding results from the Meeting de L\u2019Eure, Alexander Ogando won the final 2 of the 400 meters, with a time of 46.54 seconds. In the women’s category, Milagros Dur\u00e1n won the 400-meter race with a time of 54.75 seconds.<\/p>\n
