NASCAR in Mexico: Air Problems Delay Teams<\/h2>\n\n\nMexico City – The first NASCAR Cup race outside the United States, scheduled for this weekend at the Aut\u00f3dromo Hermanos Rodr\u00edguez, has started with setbacks. Several teams have not yet arrived in Mexico City due to travel problems originating in North Carolina.\n\nA charter flight to Mexico was affected by an engine problem on Thursday, forcing teams to seek alternative routes to arrive. Some chose to drive to Atlanta to catch commercial flights.\n\nDespite the track opening on Friday, many teams were still not present. Trackhouse Racing was one of them, although Daniel Su\u00e1rez, who arrived on Tuesday with some support staff, was unaffected. The Cup team’s communications director had to help unload the Trackhouse cars from the truck due to the lack of crew members.\n\nThe trucks carrying the vehicles arrived directly from Sunday’s race in Michigan and arrived at the Mexico City track on Thursday.\n\nNASCAR reported that only “a few” teams were not on site Friday morning. However, it appears that most are Xfinity Series teams, which led to a reorganization of the weekend’s schedule.\n\n\n

“Due to two issues with airplanes that prevented several race teams from traveling from Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday, NASCAR has adjusted the on-track schedule for this weekend’s activities at the Aut\u00f3dromo Hermanos Rodr\u00edguez in Mexico City,” NASCAR stated in a statement.<\/p>\n\nNASCAR<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nNASCAR delayed the Cup Series practice originally scheduled for Friday, moving it to later in the afternoon. All Xfinity Series practice sessions on Friday were also postponed to Saturday. In addition, the first of the two NASCAR Mexico Series races will be run earlier than scheduled on Friday.\n\nThe Xfinity Series will lose some practice time, with only a 50-minute session on Saturday morning, just before qualifying. Other small adjustments have also been made, but the Cup teams will not lose any practice.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
