Stroll Reveals Details about his Recovery for the Canadian Grand Prix<\/h2>\n\nPilot Lance Stroll has kept a low profile regarding the details of his rapid recovery from the injury that sidelined him from the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago. Stroll has been cleared to participate in the home race in Montreal this weekend, after missing the event in Barcelona.\n\nThe Aston Martin driver abruptly withdrew from the event after qualifying, complaining of pain in his right hand related to surgery following an injury sustained in 2023.\n\nIn the press conference for his home race, Stroll seemed serious and uninterested when questioned about the situation.\n\n\n

It’s just the old injury I had a couple of years ago. It started bothering me again and… yeah… so… I just fixed it.<\/p>Lance Stroll<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nWhen asked if he was confident that there would be no recurrence of the problem, he simply replied: “Quite confident. It should be fine.”\n\nDuring much of the press conference, he remained hunched in his chair with his hands in his pockets, hiding his right hand when answering and holding the microphone with his left hand to answer questions.\n\nPressed for more details about the procedure he had to perform to solve the most recent problem, Stroll was cautious.\n\n\n

He was bothering me for a few weeks in Imola, Monaco and then Barcelona was really brutal all weekend. They did the procedure and I drove this week [in a test in France] and I felt pretty good, so I’m confident.<\/p>Lance Stroll<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nLater, he answered another question: “As I said before, but I’ll say it again: I felt pain during a couple of races. In Barcelona I felt a lot of pain, so they did a procedure and now I don’t feel pain.”\n\nHowever, Stroll admitted that, when answering another question, his right hand was still “a little sore” after the procedure.\n\n\n

I really don’t want to go into details about what I had to do and how I had to do it, because it’s my medical privacy and I like to keep that confidential.<\/p>Lance Stroll<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\"Lance<\/figure>\n\n\nStroll’s withdrawal from the Barcelona race, announced after being eliminated in the second qualifying session, really took Aston Martin by surprise at that moment, arriving so late in the weekend that they couldn’t replace him.\n\nThis meant that the team competed with only one car.\n\n\n

Although Stroll’s teammate, Fernando Alonso, scored a point by finishing tenth, Aston Martin remained ninth in the championship, as Sauber moved up the order thanks to Nico Hulkenberg’s fifth position.<\/p>\n\n\nStroll seemed to downplay another question about whether he had left his team in the dark.\n\n\n

As an athlete in any sport, I think you’re always trying to overcome the pain\/discomfort as much as you can to try and get a good result at the end of the weekend. In that situation, I was struggling and I was trying to overcome it, but it just didn’t seem sensible to continue, I felt the damage was getting worse and I needed to do something more serious about it.<\/p>Lance Stroll<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThere was a sense of confusion in the Formula 1 paddock following Stroll’s withdrawal, with many unanswered questions about the timeline of Stroll’s pain, the late decision to withdraw, and the fact that Aston Martin was left with only one car to compete.\n\nThere were also other curious factors.\n\nStroll did not deny that version of events when asked about it on Thursday.\n\nWhen asked to clarify what happened, Stroll said:\n\nYes, I was frustrated, for sure.
