This decision ends a sporting career full of successes, including the conquest of the Giro d&#8217;Italia 2025 and the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a 2018, among other significant achievements.\n\nYates is retiring at a peak moment in his career. In his last season, in addition to being crowned Giro champion, he achieved a stage victory in the Tour de France, consolidating an enviable record that includes partial victories in the three grand tours and the general classification of the Tirreno-Adriatico.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Thoughtful Decision<\/h2>\n\n\nThrough a statement issued by his team, the Bury-born runner explained that his decision was not taken lightly.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I have decided to retire from professional cycling. It may surprise many, but it is a decision I have considered for a long time. I felt this was the right time to step aside.<\/p><cite>Simon Yates<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nYates recalled that cycling has been a fundamental part of his life from his beginnings at the Manchester velodrome to reaching the top of the world sport and representing his country in Olympic competitions.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I am deeply proud of what I have achieved and very grateful for everything that cycling has taught me. Not only the victories marked my career, but also the difficult moments, which helped me grow and value each success even more.<\/p><cite>Simon Yates<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acknowledgements and Recognition<\/h2>\n\n\nThe British cyclist expressed his gratitude for the support received throughout his career, from both the technical staff and his teammates, in addition to the constant support of his family. He also highlighted his team&#8217;s understanding of his decision to retire.\n\nGrischa Niermann, sports director of Visma | Lease a Bike, regretted Yates&#8217; departure, although he acknowledged the magnitude of his legacy.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>It&#8217;s a shame that Simon is retiring now, especially after such a brilliant season.
