Topuria, who conquered the lightweight title adding it to the featherweight title after his victory over Charles Oliveira at the beginning of this year, surprised his followers by announcing his temporary withdrawal from the octagon at the end of November.\n\nThis decision led to Paddy Pimblett facing Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title on January 24th.\n\nOn Monday, Topuria revealed details about the reasons behind his absence.\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a2.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2024%2F1210%2Fr1426075_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"Ilia Topuria gan\u00f3 t\u00edtulos de la UFC en dos categor\u00edas de peso.\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n<em>Ilia Topuria won UFC titles in two weight classes.<\/em>\n\nIn his message, Topuria expressed:\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Over the past few weeks, I made the difficult decision to temporarily step away from defending my title. This was not a decision I took lightly. However, when circumstances arise that threaten your personal integrity, your family, and your reputation, there comes a time when you must address them directly.<\/p><cite>Ilia Topuria<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nFurthermore, the wrestler added:\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>In recent months, I have been subjected to severe and unacceptable pressure, including threats to spread false accusations of domestic abuse unless financial demands were met. These accusations are completely unfounded.<\/p><cite>Ilia Topuria<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nTopuria also indicated that:\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>All relevant evidence has been carefully preserved and documented, including audio recordings, written communications, witness statements, and video material. This evidence has been presented to the competent judicial authorities in order to take legal action for attempted extortion, falsification of evidence, misappropriation of funds and personal property, and multiple threats.<\/p><cite>Ilia Topuria<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nTo conclude, Topuria stated:\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I have full confidence in the judicial process and will allow the legal system to determine the facts based on the evidence.
