Previously, he spent three seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, who fell to the Dodgers in the World Series.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I have known Don for years and have worked closely with him in New York. I know that his knowledge of the game and his character make him a great addition to our tremendous technical staff.<\/p><cite>Rob Thomson<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nAt 64 years old, Mattingly had a successful playing career, excelling as a first baseman for 14 seasons with the Yankees (1982-95).
