Dallas Wings Need Emergency Reinforcements
The Dallas Wings were in need of emergency reinforcements to be able to play their game against the Atlanta Dream last Friday night. Despite their effort, the Wings couldn’t overcome the Dream, falling with a score of 100-78. To meet the minimum of eight available players, the team signed Christyn Williams and extended a seven-day contract to Amy Okonkwo. The Wings were able to sign players thanks to the hardship exception, as they had less than the required minimum due to injuries, illnesses, or other circumstances. We didn’t know if we would have enough players to play tonight.
Maddy Siegrist, Dallas Wings player
The Dallas team is depleted due to the absences of Luisa Geiselsoder (right shoulder), Ty Harris (left knee), Aziaha James (right ankle), Haley Jones (right knee), Arike Ogunbowale (right knee), JJ Quinerly (left knee), and Li Yueru (left knee). Bueckers, who missed the previous game, was able to participate in the match against the Dream. We are playing with what we have. We have new people who have never played before.
Paige Bueckers, Wings player, who scored 16 points and dished out 10 assists
Dallas stayed close on the scoreboard at the start of the last quarter, but Atlanta scored the first eight points, securing the victory. Our office has been busy. It’s a shame the situation we are living in right now.
Chris Koclanes, Dallas coach
The Wings (9-31) haven’t had all their players available in any game this season and have accumulated more than 100 games lost due to injuries or absences. We ran out of energy. We had some defensive errors.
