Paige Bueckers Misses Game Due to Knee Issues
Dallas Wings’ standout rookie, Paige Bueckers, has been ruled out of Saturday night’s game against Washington due to a right knee issue.
Bueckers appeared on the team’s status report on Saturday. No details were provided on the exact nature of the problem, a day after scoring 27 points and dishing out six assists in nearly 36 and a half minutes during the Wings’ 94-86 loss to the Indiana Fever.
This will be the fifth game that the number 1 draft pick of this year misses. Bueckers was out for three games while in the WNBA concussion protocol and then missed the first game she was eligible to return due to illness.
In the 13 games he has played, Bueckers has averaged 18.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals.
The current WNBA Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark, did not play for the Fever on Friday night, missing her second consecutive game due to a left groin injury. This prevented the expected first meeting of the last two number 1 draft picks, although the American Airlines Center, with a capacity of 20,000 spectators, was almost full for the game.
The Wings hosted Washington at the College Park Center, on the campus of UT-Arlington, their home court with a capacity of 6,251 spectators. This is about 20 miles from the AAC in downtown Dallas.
