Dallas Wings Reschedule Game to Heighten Clark-Bueckers Matchup Excitement

The Dallas Wings are looking to revive the anticipation of a stellar matchup between Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, this time at the American Airlines Center, home of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.

The team announced on Monday that the August 1st game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will be moved to this venue.

This matchup, which promised to be the first between the top two picks of the WNBA draft, was originally scheduled for June 27 at the same arena. However, Clark missed the game, which the Fever won 94-86, due to a groin injury.

Paige Bueckers shined in the game, scoring 27 points, her second-best mark in her rookie season.

If Clark recovers from the injury that has kept her off the court in the last five games, the first clash with Bueckers could occur this Sunday in Indianapolis.

Despite Clark’s absence in the previous game, the Wings’ match at the Mavs’ stadium attracted 20,409 fans, becoming the eighth regular season game in WNBA history to surpass 20,000 attendees.

Among those in attendance were Kyrie Irving, a nine-time NBA All-Star, prominent Dallas Cowboys player Micah Parsons, and Cooper Flagg, the first overall pick in the NBA draft by the Mavericks last month.

The Wings usually play at the College Park Center, with a capacity of 7,000 spectators, located on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington, about 32 kilometers from downtown Dallas. The team, which moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2016, plans to move to a renovated pavilion at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas in the next year or two.
