Courtney Vandersloot Suffers Knee Injury and Leaves Game
Chicago Sky’s point guard, Courtney Vandersloot, suffered a right knee injury during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Indiana Fever. The team confirmed that Vandersloot would not return to the game.
The Sky vs. Fever matchup marked the first WNBA game at the United Center.
Vandersloot was injured while attempting a drive to the basket, with 5:29 remaining in the first quarter. She was assisted by her teammates and subsequently taken off the court. Vandersloot, 36, is in her 15th season in the league. Drafted 3rd overall in 2011 by Chicago, she played her first 12 career years with the team, winning the WNBA title in 2021. In 2023 and 2024, she went on to play with the New York Liberty, where she secured another championship.Vandersloot returned to Chicago this year, bringing her experience to the team alongside young players Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.
Vandersloot is the all-time assists leader in the WNBA, with 2,886, behind only Sue Bird, former Seattle Storm player (3,234). Vandersloot has led the league in assists five times.
