Latricia Trammell returns to the Los Angeles Sparks as special assistant

The Los Angeles Sparks have added Latricia Trammell as a special assistant to coach Lynne Roberts, the team announced on Tuesday. Trammell was fired as coach of the Dallas Wings in October, after two seasons. Her return to the Sparks marks her second stint with the team, where she was previously an assistant from 2019 to 2022. During his previous stint with the Sparks, Trammell helped Candace Parker win the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 2020. In their first stint with the Sparks, Nneka Ogwumike and Brittney Sykes were selected for the league’s All-Defensive team, with Sykes earning two mentions on the second All-Defensive team. Trammell began her WNBA career as an assistant in San Antonio, where she worked with current Sparks players Dearica Hamby and Kelsey Plum. Previously, between 1994 and 2017, Trammell dedicated herself to coaching in high schools and universities.

I am incredibly honored and grateful to return to the Los Angeles Sparks, an organization that holds a special place in my heart. This franchise has a rich legacy, a passionate fan base, and a commitment to excellence that aligns with everything I believe in as a coach.
