Tiffany Mitchell Bolsters the Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm announced the addition of Tiffany Mitchell, a nine-year WNBA veteran, as a free agent.
Mitchell began the current season with the Las Vegas Aces, averaging 3.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 16 games before being released on June 30.
Depth has been a challenge for the Storm, who suffered season-ending ACL injuries for three players: Nika Muhl, Jordan Horston, and Katie Lou Samuelson, before the start of the season.
Despite this, Seattle ranks fifth in the WNBA standings with a 12-8 record, although they are above the Los Angeles Sparks in points per game from the reserves (15.7).
The guard position has been particularly affected, with Zia Cooke as the only substitute player who has played at least 100 minutes. Lexie Brown has missed four of the last six games due to illness, including the 93-83 loss to the Connecticut Sun.
Mitchell, selected ninth overall in the 2016 draft by the Indiana Fever, was named to the All-Rookie first team that same year. She averaged 9.6 points per game in her seven seasons with the Fever. Seattle will be Mitchell’s fourth team in the last three seasons. She previously played for the Minnesota Lynx and the Sun before signing with Las Vegas.
Mitchell recovered after missing the second half of the 2024 season due to sepsis.
