Los Angeles Sparks Sign Grace Berger to Hardship Contract

The Los Angeles Sparks have secured the services of guard Grace Berger on a hardship contract for the remainder of the season. This move comes after the absence of team star Kelsey Plum due to a leg injury.

Berger, who was selected as the number 7 pick in the 2023 draft by the Indiana Fever, has averaged 3.9 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 rebounds in 47 games during her two seasons in the league.

Before joining the Sparks, Berger, 26, played for Ormanspor in Turkey after the 2024 WNBA season, where she averaged 13.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. Previously, she participated in the Minnesota Lynx training camp this spring before being released.

The absence of Plum, who leads the Sparks in scoring (20.9) and assists (5.6) in her first season with the team, adds to the absence of Odyssey Sims for personal reasons. Sims averages 10.5 points per game.
