Satou Sabally Ruled Out With Concussion in WNBA Finals

Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not participate in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals, the team announced this Thursday.

The Mercury are down in the series, best-of-seven, against the Las Vegas Aces, with a score of 3-0, after Wednesday’s 90-88 loss, in which Sabally suffered the injury.

Sabally was injured after falling following a rebound, with 4:26 remaining in the game. Her head impacted the leg of Aces defender Kierstan Bell. A loose ball foul was called on Jackie Young of the Aces in the play, but after a review by the referees, there was no upgrade to the foul.

Sabally remained on the court for several minutes and appeared dazed as she left the field with the help of her teammates and the Mercury staff. She did not return to the game, finishing with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

This is Sabally’s first season with the Mercury, after spending her first five seasons with the Dallas Wings, who selected her at number 2 in the 2020 WNBA draft.

She has led the Mercury in scoring throughout the postseason, averaging 19.0 points per game.
