Napheesa Collier (Lynx) Suffers Serious Injury: Tore Ligaments in Collision

1 Min Read

Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier suffered a significant injury during a match against the Phoenix Mercury. A source close to the situation revealed to Alofoke Deportes that Collier suffered a grade 2 tear in three ankle ligaments and a muscle injury in the shin.

The injury occurred during a collision with the Mercury’s forward, Alyssa Thomas.

The estimated minimum recovery time is six weeks. This would mean that Collier would not have been able to participate in the current season, even if the Lynx, who were the top-ranked team, had advanced beyond the series against the Mercury.

The Mercury finally eliminated the Lynx, who were playing at a disadvantage, after their victory in Game 4 of the series.

In addition, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was ejected from Game 3 and received a one-game suspension due to her reaction to the play in which Collier was injured.
