Napheesa Collier Suffers Significant Ankle Injury

Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier suffered a Grade 2 injury involving the rupture of three ligaments in her ankle and a muscle in her shin. The injury occurred during a collision with Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas, according to a source close to the situation.

The minimum recovery period for this injury is six weeks. This means Collier would not have been able to return to the court this season, even if the Lynx, who were the top-seeded team, had advanced beyond their series against the Mercury.

The Mercury eliminated the Lynx, who played at a disadvantage, after their victory in Game 4 of the series.

Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was ejected from Game 3 and received a one-game suspension for her reaction to the play in which Collier was injured.
