Lynx Bolster Roster with Acquisition of DiJonai Carrington

The Minnesota Lynx, one of the most prominent WNBA teams this season, have finalized a significant move by acquiring guard DiJonai Carrington from the Dallas Wings. This transaction marks a significant reinforcement for the team, which seeks to consolidate its position in the league. Carrington, recognized as the Most Improved Player of last year, arrives at the Lynx with the aim of contributing her talent and experience to the team. Her incorporation promises to strengthen Minnesota’s offense and defense. In return, the Dallas Wings will receive forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson, and the Lynx’s second-round pick in the 2027 draft. Before joining the Wings in February, Carrington averaged 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game with the Connecticut Sun, a team she joined after a trade involving four teams. In 2024, Carrington was selected for the first defensive team along with her Most Improved Player award. For his part, Miller, who was the second overall pick in the draft two years ago, averaged 7.1 points per game during his time in Minnesota. Samuelson, who arrived at the Lynx in April, averaged 3.3 points per game this season, but has not played since June 29 due to surgery on his left foot. To complete the transfer, the Wings cut Teaira McCowan, who had a protected veteran contract and averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. With this acquisition, the Lynx, who currently have a 24-5 record, seek to maintain their good performance this season. Meanwhile, the Wings, with the first draft pick, Paige Bueckers, have had a less favorable performance, losing eight of their last 10 games and recording an 8-21 record.
