Las Vegas Aces Set Three-Point Record and Clinch Playoff Seeding
In a historic night for women’s basketball, the Las Vegas Aces demolished the Los Angeles Sparks with an unprecedented offensive display, setting a new record for three-pointers in a single WNBA game.
The match, which ended with a score of 103-75 in favor of the Aces, saw A’ja Wilson lead the offense with 23 points and 19 rebounds. Jewell Loyd contributed 21 points, while the team as a whole scored an astonishing 22 three-pointers, surpassing the previous league record.
With this victory, the Aces extended their winning streak to 16 consecutive games, tying for the second-longest streak in WNBA history.
In addition to the team’s impressive performance, Jackie Young stood out by reaching 3,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists in the fewest games in WNBA history, achieving this feat in just 243 games.
Chelsea Gray also shone with 15 points and 10 assists, demonstrating the depth and talent of the Las Vegas team.
The Aces’ performance secured them the second seed in the playoffs, where they will face the Seattle Storm in a three-game series.
On the other hand, the Los Angeles Sparks, with a notable performance by Kelsey Plum, Dearica Hamby, and Sarah Ashlee Barker, who each scored 15 points, were out of the playoff race after Seattle defeated Golden State.
The game was also marred by an injury to Cameron Brink, who left the game in the second quarter due to a nosebleed.
