WNBA Audience History: Clark vs. Reese Duel Breaks Records

Saturday’s matchup between the Indiana Fever, led by Caitlin Clark, and the Chicago Sky, drew an average of 2.7 million viewers on ABC. This encounter became the most-watched WNBA regular season game in the last 25 years, according to reports.

The game, which reached a peak of 3.1 million viewers, recorded the second-largest average audience for any league event, surpassed only by last year’s WNBA All-Star Game (3.44 million).

This figure represents the highest regular season audience since Memorial Day 2000.

In the game, the Fever defeated the Sky with a score of 93-58. Clark achieved a triple-double and received her first flagrant foul as a professional. Clark’s foul was on Angel Reese, preventing a clear basket, which generated tension between the players.

Following the review, Clark’s foul was classified as flagrant-1.

The WNBA is investigating allegations of offensive comments or noises directed at the players during the incident. A video shared on social media shows a fan, wearing a Clark jersey and matching shorts, making high-pitched noises while Reese was shooting a free throw in the third quarter.

On Sunday, the WNBA issued a statement informing that it is “aware of the allegations” and “is investigating the matter.”
