Indiana Fever Secures Odyssey Sims with Emergency Contract

The Indiana Fever have announced the signing of guard Odyssey Sims via an emergency contract, as reported this Sunday.

The Fever were able to access this agreement due to the injuries that have ended the season for Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald.

Colson suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, while McDonald fractured a bone in his right foot.

Additionally, Indiana is still without Caitlin Clark, who has been off the court since July 16 due to a groin injury. Clark has missed 18 of the Fever’s 31 games so far this season.

In the absence of Colson, McDonald, and Clark, the Fever found themselves without a clear starting point guard, but were unable to sign a player on an emergency contract before their August 9 game against the Chicago Sky. League rules require injured players to miss one game before teams can sign someone new. The Fever only had nine players available in their 92-70 victory against the Sky.

The addition of Sims provides the team with a veteran player in this position. Sims played the first part of this season with the Los Angeles Sparks, where she averaged 9.8 points and 3.5 assists in the 12 games she played with the team, before being cut last month.
