Naz Hillmon Makes History with the Atlanta Dream: Named Sixth Player of the Year in the WNBA

Atlanta Dream forward Naz Hillmon has been awarded the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year award. This achievement makes her the first player in franchise history to receive this recognition. Hillmon proved her worth by averaging 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game with the Dream. In addition, she stood out for her ability from the three-point line, making 53 three-pointers, a significant change considering she had only made one three-pointer in her first three seasons in the WNBA.

“Naz embodies everything we want the Atlanta Dream to represent: tenacity, consistency, and growth. Her ability to take on any role and make winning plays has elevated not only her own game, but our entire team. We also have to thank Karl [Smesko] and our coaching staff for helping take Naz’s game to another level and put her in positions to thrive,” said Dan Padover, Dream general manager.

In 27 of the 44 games he played, Hillmon came off the bench. He also set a franchise record by participating in 150 consecutive games. Previously, Hillmon, who played college basketball at Michigan, was recognized with the AP Sixth Woman of the Year award earlier this month. Her performance was crucial for Atlanta to secure third place and achieve a franchise record with 30 wins in its 17th season.
