Crypto Group Orchestrates WNBA Game Disruptions Using Sex Toys
A self-proclaimed cryptocurrency enthusiast revealed to Alofoke Deportes details about a group that has been orchestrating recent incidents in WNBA games, using sex toys as part of a marketing campaign for a cryptocurrency. The man, who requested to remain anonymous, explained that the WNBA and its “controversy” made the league a logical target for his strategy. The main goal was to leverage the attention generated by the league to promote his digital currency. The cryptocurrency launch took place on July 28, one day before the first incident at a WNBA game. Transaction records confirm this timeline. The group, which has more than 1,000 members in its Telegram community, demonstrated prior knowledge of the incident in the game between Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries on July 29. In the chat, a link to the game’s broadcast was shared before the start, and members celebrated their upcoming event, posting disparaging comments about the WNBA. “We’ll buy the league soon,” wrote a user. Hours later, the game was interrupted in the final quarter because a green sex toy was thrown onto the court. Since then, two people have been arrested in connection with the incidents. Delbert Carver, 23, was arrested on August 1 for allegedly throwing a green sex toy at the Atlanta Dream vs. Mercury game. However, the man who spoke with Alofoke Deportes claimed that Carver was not affiliated with the group. On August 1st, another green sex toy was thrown during the game between the Chicago Sky and the Golden State Valkyries in Chicago. Sophie Cunningham, Indiana Fever player, expressed her concern on X.“We wanted to make memes fun again,” stated the man, known on the X platform as Lt. Daldo Raine.

The group planned actions in four arenas on Tuesday. Kaden Lopez, 18, was arrested in Phoenix during the game between Mercury and Connecticut Sun. Lopez threw a sex toy and hit two spectators. He was celebrated as a “hero” in the group’s Telegram chat. At the Barclays Center, during the match between the New York Liberty and the Dallas Wings, another sex toy was thrown, but it didn’t reach the court. A similar incident occurred in Los Angeles during the game between the Sparks and the Fever, apparently hitting Cunningham. The WNBA issued a statement on August 2, emphasizing safety in arenas and the consequences for those who throw objects onto the court. The cryptocurrency’s value has increased significantly in the last week, and searches for “green dildo” have skyrocketed. A betting site created markets related to the incidents, and some group members profited from betting. The group is now focusing its attention on other sporting events. During the Marlins-Astros game in Miami, a woman behind the plate displayed a green sex toy. The group plans more actions, although of a “less disruptive nature”, with the aim of maintaining public attention.“Stop throwing dildos on the court. You’re going to hurt someone,” Cunningham wrote.
