Lynx’s Napheesa Collier Out With Ankle Sprain

Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier will be out for at least two weeks due to a right ankle sprain, according to sources. Collier underwent imaging tests on Sunday and Monday, which revealed that she avoided a major injury. The team announced in a statement that Collier suffered the right ankle sprain on Monday and will be reevaluated in “the coming weeks”. The injury occurred with less than a minute left in the third quarter in the Lynx’s 111-58 blowout victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday. Collier landed awkwardly after attempting to grab an offensive rebound, with 30 seconds remaining in the period. Minnesota was leading by 43 points at the time. Collier remained on the ground for several minutes, visibly in pain, until she could leave the court with assistance. Her teammate Kayla McBride said that Collier was in “good spirits”.

Obviously, you hate to see someone fall, but especially your MVP. We wish her the best. We just want her to be healthy.

Collier is the leading MVP candidate, averaging 23.8 points and 7.7 rebounds, the highest in the league. Her injury comes as the Lynx have a 5.5-game lead over the Liberty in the standings.
