A’ja Wilson, WNBA MVP Finalist: Fourth Title in Sight?

Henderson, Nev. – Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has been selected as one of five finalists for the WNBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. This nomination puts her in a prime position to become the first player in league history to win MVP four times.

The WNBA is about to announce the winner of the MVP award, which will be chosen by a media panel. The official announcement will be made on Sunday.

A’ja Wilson has already proven her worth on the court, and is in the sights of winning her fourth MVP award.

Last season, Wilson joined Cynthia Cooper of the 1997 Houston Comets as the only players to be unanimously selected MVP. This tied her with Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, and Lauren Jackson as the only players to win the award three times.

Wilson won the award in 2020 and 2022, solidifying his dominance in the league.

This season, Wilson led the WNBA with an average of 23.4 points and 2.3 blocks per game for the Aces, who finished in second place.

Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx is also listed as a finalist. Collier averaged 22.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

The other finalists are Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream, Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever, and Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury. None of them have won the MVP award previously.
