Venus and Serena Williams Launch Excellence Program for Young Tennis Players

The legendary tennis players Venus and Serena Williams join forces in a groundbreaking initiative. Their goal is to provide opportunities to young people from communities with limited resources through tennis and education.

The “Williams Family Excellence Program” was presented on Thursday at the US Open, in collaboration with the USTA Foundation. Venus Williams was present at the ceremony held during the women’s semifinals.

The program will focus on post-secondary education and professional development. It is expected to reach more than 2,500 young people between 13 and 25 years old annually by the year 2035.

USTA Foundation community organizations will identify and recruit youth from underserved communities with athletic potential and financial needs. They will provide them with free or low-cost high-performance training, college admission guidance, and access to camps and competitions.

Venus Williams, at 45 years old, participated in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles at this year’s US Open. Serena, her younger sister, has accumulated 23 Grand Slam singles titles, and together they have won 14 additional doubles titles.
