Valentin Vacherot Shocks Djokovic in Shanghai and Advances to the Final

In an unexpected turn at the Shanghai Masters, Valentin Vacherot achieved the most significant victory of his career by defeating Novak Djokovic, who was physically limited, with a score of 6-3, 6-4. This triumph secures him a place in the tournament final. Vacherot, currently ranked 204th in the world, hailing from Monaco, has starred in an exceptional week, even after being a substitute in the qualifying phase.

Is this real? I don’t know. Having Novak on the other side of the court was, first of all, an incredible experience for me.

The final promises to be a family affair, as Vacherot will face his cousin, Arthur Rinderknech, who managed to defeat the 16th seed, Daniil Medvedev, with scores of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the other semi-final. Djokovic, visibly affected by a hip injury, requested medical assistance after losing 4-3 in the first set. Despite the difficulties, the Serbian tennis player did not attribute his defeat to physical problems.

It’s all about him. I wish him the best in the final, and the best player won today.

Novak Djokovic
Djokovic praised Vacherot’s performance in the tournament, highlighting his attitude and performance. Vacherot, before his professional success, played college tennis at Texas A&M.
